Post Comment Love 5-7 March

Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love. If you were here last week it was great to have you along, if you’re new here this week we’re pleased you’re here.

This past week has once again passed in a blur, we’ve had some family news and some new job news (not me), but neither are my news to share so that’s as much as I’ll say for now. I’ve reached the creating end of another crochet project, and this time I’m determined to move it past this stage and make something from it. As I’ve realised that, apart from acquiring the yarn - a hobby in itself I think - my most favourite part is the actual crochet, and the next stage of making it up is a little behind that. The result is I have several projects lamenting in this stage so I really should push through this.

For this one I think I will. Not only am I in love with the pattern, but the ombre yarn brings its own challenges when laying it out, but I think I’ve cracked it.

A stylish snug

I thought it about time I shared the main living room from the holiday cottage from our trip to Norfolk last October. Staying there was a bit of a treat to ourselves after 2020, and it was the type of place that looked just as good as the photos online, and drew an intake of breath as we walked in and explored.

A cosy armchair

From the pictures here, and those I’ve shared before, I don’t think you’d know this was quite a tiny cottage. And from the inside you had everything you needed. A couple of armchairs, a cosy fire and plenty of decor to look at and soften the space. And did I mention the fire?

plants, a tray and some gin

And the bottle of Norfolk gin on the side. And what a side. Talk about a statement piece.

feathers and a lampshade

If that wasn’t enough, then the feather wreath above it was just as stunning, and bold.

a bright green shade

Green was a theme that reappeared throughout the room, and there was no better place to sit in the chilly October evenings in front of the fire.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to explore further than our ‘local area’ when the restrictions are lifted.

With the weather being nicer last weekend we spent some time in our garden for the first time this year. Before we knew it our green bins were full and our gardening enthusiasm returned in an instance. Unfortunately over the winter we lost a plant or two, and with our enthusiasm reignited, some new plants were ordered.

I’ve learnt that our garden prefers woodland plants, and this week some hydrangeas and dogwoods have arrived. I also ordered some pink cistus which I know are drought-friendly plants, and which we see in gardens around us. The plants are currently lodging in the conservatory and I’m hopeful that the weather this weekend will be equally as good so we can get them into the garden.

There’s already a fair bit going on in our garden, bulbs are pushing through and the daffodils are trying to flower. But right now it’s the snowdrops that are having their time, and when they’re as gorgeous as this I’m not going to deny them.
