Post Comment Love and Blogger Showcase 15 - 17 March

Hello there and welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo a friendly linky where you can link any post published in the last week.  If you were here last week, it was great to see you and if you’re new here this week, then you’re very welcome.  Both Morgan and I know you’ll find some great posts to read, and encourage you to pop over to some of the posts linked and take the time to leave a comment or two so that everyone benefits from some extra love.

I’m not quite sure where this week has gone, it’s been one that’s been windy though. So far I’ve managed to avoid the rain, but it’s been blowy wandering around Greenwich, and not even on the river banks. It’s also been one where everyone seems to be watching what’s happening in Parliament, and whatever your stance on Brexit, it’s a complete mess isn’t it?

I know I’m ready for this weekend, we don’t have much planned and that’s the beauty of it. I’m hoping to spend some time crafting and making progress with my next photo book. And I don’t think I even mind what the weather does, although MOH will, he’s off on one of his mad cycles on Sunday.

My photo this week is one from Gardeners’ World Live last June, the colours just called out to me - I think it’s a echium, a plant that grows tall cone like flowers which are much loved by butterflies and bees and remind me of our trip to Jersey a few years ago where we saw them everywhere. Definitely our plant of the holiday, and yes, often there’s one plant that stands out more than most so is adopted as our plant emblem.

Blogger Showcase: Megan from Not Scared

1 Who are you?

My name is Megan. I am a 29 year old Canadian blogger. I own the blog Not Scared.

2 How did you discover blogs/blogging?

I discovered blogging just by reading other blogs on the internet. I started to wonder what it was all about and started to do research.

3 Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to be heard. Also, I wanted something in my life that I could say that I did; that was mine. In addition, I suffer from bipolar disorder and I wanted a way to connect with others who suffer from mental health issues. I also wanted a way to educate and promote mental health. Hopefully, I can also solve some of the symptoms experienced by others.

4 What do you find most challenging?

Right now, my biggest challenges are search engine placement and generating traffic. My blog only launched on January 3, 2019. Thus, I am a very new blog and I am still trying to gain exposure.

5 What is your favourite topic to write about?

So far, essential oils and how they can help with mental health.

6 Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

Both

7 What is your favourite thing about blogging?

That I can be heard; that I have an outlet.

8 Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?

No just launched.

9 What are you 3 best posts?

My three best posts have been:

  1.  7 Natural Remedies for Anxiety Attacks

  2. What is depression?

  3. Anxiety: Everything you need to know

10 Describe yourself in three words!

Kind, motivated, crafty.

11 Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Tea and biscuits.

12 What’s your idea of a perfect night out?

Go out to a little coffee shop and talk with friends.

13 Your perfect night in?

Order pizza and watch Netflix.

14 What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?

Friendly.

Thanks Megan, for sharing more about you and your blog. You can connect with Megan on her social channels here: Twitter - Instagram - Pinterest. If you’d like to be featured in a future blogger showcase then please get in touch with either Morgan or I, we still have a waiting list but it’s shorter than it has been for a while!

Love This #84: Spools and wooden shoe forms

This month’s Love This post is also from last year’s Grand Designs Live and was right alongside the lovely radiators I shared before. You can just imagine my joy, and MOH’s despair as he tried to move me along without leaving with either any of these, a radiator or even any of the tiles.

Sometimes he has a tough job… But luckily for my purse he’s often there to do it.

Though these wooden spools or bobbins, would look great wouldn’t they as a ornament? And not just in a craft room, although they’d look great there I think they’d work in almost any room, and bring their character to the space. I”m sure they’d be a talking point too.

Wooden spools

I managed to leave without any, but I’ve made a mental note - and now a blog note - to add them to my virtual wish list. If I see any when I’m out and about that are reasonably priced then leaving them there might be a completely different proposition. I think I was distracted though, by these.

wooden+shoe+forms

Wooden shoe forms. I’m well known for being a bit of shoequeen, so it makes sense to be curious about these too. They are fascinating and beautiful in their own right, and again would make an unusual addition to a display area. And they really do make you think about how shoes are - and used to be - made.

The lights too are where it got interesting, as that’s where MOH and I swap roles. He would easily have left with even more than these - we saw plenty of vintage lights at the show - and that’s even before we saw this one:

A vintage industrial light

We both almost wavered, but practicality - and lack of space - won again. For now.

It's a bucket!

* This item was gifted by Spear & Jackson

A collapsible and compact bucket at that. And while I never thought I’d rave quite so much about a collapsible bucket, I also have to apologise for the title of this post. As soon as the phrase popped into my mind, it reminded me of the Brian Conley “it’s a puppet” catchphrase from the 90s, which was big in our family. But rave about a bucket, I am - and of the two things I’ve just mentioned, be grateful it’s the bucket.

Compact and collapsed - it's a bucket

And yes, it really is a bucket, not a frisbee, although…

Seriously, when I saw it my first thoughts were “that’d be great for under the sink.” Our buckets have been relegated to the shed, which is all well and good when you can plan, but when you can’t it’s not so good to have your bucket supply a hundred yards away. We’ve not been in an emergency bucket situation (thankfully) but I think MOH knows that if we were, it’d be his job to hunt the bucket down.

Popped up - no longer collapsed

Anyway, back to the actual bucket which is easy to pop up and down, it’s one of the new products from Spear and Jackson and well, can be used like a bucket. It’s made from silicone, retails for £8.99, has a pouring lip and a handle (like buckets do) and a potential useful hangy-up thing. Because even though I’ve said it’ll be useful to keep it under the sink, there’s still very little room there so hanging it on the back of the door could be the way to go. I’ve a feeling that MOH will be keen to make this work, especially when he learns of his bucket fetching duties, should the need arise.

And popped back down again
A BIT BLURRED - BUT THE BUCKET MATCHES MY POM POM SLIPPERS, AND THAT MAKES ME SMILE

A BIT BLURRED - BUT THE BUCKET MATCHES MY POM POM SLIPPERS, AND THAT MAKES ME SMILE

And one more thing that made me smile - so much so that all the pictures I have are slightly blurred - the bucket matches my slippers, how serendipitous is that?

* While this item was gifted by Spear & Jackson, I was under no obligation to share it here on my blog.
