Love this 48: Sari notebook

It's no secret that I like a notebook or two and probably have more than I can use at one time - however I'm a firm believer that need doesn't apply to stationery and definitely doesn't apply to notebooks!  I tend to buy lovely notebooks when I see them, so that when the perfect use arises I'm all set.

I've recently spotted some fair trade handmade sari covered notebooks on NotOnTheHighStreet.com and I'm smitten. The notebooks come in two sizes (8.5cm x 11cm and 12cm x 16cm) and seven colours. Each contains 30 pages of handmade recycled cotton paper and is fastened with a traditional wraparound string. The NotOnTheHighStreet.com website says "the cotton used is unbleached and is the left overs from the massive Indian garment industry. They are made in a small workshop in Rajasthan, India by skilled crafts people using a mixture of traditional and contemporary methods."  The saris used for these notebooks are new and come from Varanasi which is a centre of excellence for sari making,

My next-to-be-used notebook is this A6 sized gorgeousness from my last visit to the V&A much earlier in the year. I'm off to Blogfest14 this Saturday and I can see it getting plenty of use!
