Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any blog post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love. If you were here last week it was great to have you along, if you’re new here this week we’re pleased you’re here.

The weather here has mostly been glorious, despite the forecast of rain which hasn’t seemed to arrive in the quantities they’d forecast. It’s clearly good to have the warmer weather as it’s such a boost for so many reasons, but I always feel I should be making the most of it and that often means neglecting things inside or online - it’s a tricky balance, and one I’m not sure I’ve got quite right just yet.

Last week we headed to Gardener’s World Live in Birmingham - typically we planned to go on the hottest day of the year. The show was great and I’ll be sharing many more posts I’m sure, but the journey back was one of those journeys. Instead of coming back into Euston we needed to switch lines to come into Marylebone. That also meant switching our booked seats for a very full four carriage train - at least everyone was in the same situation and were making the most of it, and in relatively good humour. But it wasn’t a great journey - we got home five hours after our train should have arrived back into London - it was dark, but the first thing we did was head to the sun loungers in the garden!

Have a good week.

Yesterday we finally got our trees cut. It’s been a while, and it’s been another while trying to find someone to do them. Our usual tree surgeon retired during Covid, and to be honest they were already due a cut back then. Joining forces with our neighbour, who also wanted some tree work done, paid off in the end - between us we found someone that would come and quote when they said they would, who’d put in the necessary paperwork with the council and actually turn up and do the work.

But what a day for it - the hottest day of the year so far - though today is forecast to be warmer. Between myself, my next door neighbour, the neighbour at the back and the garage shop we were keeping the team of six hydrated. It’s a seriously hard day’s work, between them they cut ten trees of varying sizes, and cleared up too. That’s the really hard part!

Our fruiting cherry tree was just starting to ripen, and they were appreciated by them too. I even managed to get a colander full as they assured me they were mostly ripe - we’ll see!

It’s been mixed weather here this week and I’ve learnt that planning gardening jobs needs some flexibility. We’ve had rain and brilliantly warm sunshine, and where I thought I’d wait for the sun to hit the patio in the afternoon before pottering around there, I quickly remembered it is quite a sun trap, so the last thing I wanted to be doing was gardening.

It’s been great though to spend time in the garden during the day, whether that’s pottering about or enjoying the sun. As ever though my list is longer than I have time for, but it’s good to see the strawberry plants around the garden doing their thing without too much intervention from me. I’m looking forward to seeing how many we actually get to eat this year - wish me luck!
