This week's photo is one from our recent trip to Dorset. We spent some time in Lyme Regis wandering through the town and around The Cobb on a sunny but chilly day. Then later on we headed up to Stonebarrow Hill for a view towards Golden Cap and this one back over towards Lyme Regis.
It was a beautiful view, made even more beautiful with the sun on the sea. And it was a shot that as I took it, I thought would look good in black and white. And phew, it does.
Black & White photo: Uphill
As well as trying to get my digital photos sorted out and stored safely I've been looking at our old photos too. This one is from our second visit to the States back in the early 2000s; this trip we spent just under two weeks exploring New England, which on reflection was nowhere near long enough for what we had planned. But anyway perhaps we'll head back there one of these days as it was truly beautiful.
This photo was taken at Mount Washington during our trip on the Cog Railway, taken from inside the carriage, I presume looking back from where we've just come from. I wasn't a huge fan of the motion of the train on the way up, but it was worth it once we got there.
Looking back, now I'm not so sure about the track and the kinks in it and how it even works...
Black & White photo: Bloomsbury
Earlier this week I shared some photos from my walk around some of Bloomsbury's Squares. In the penultimate square - Gordon Square - it was the buildings around the square that interested me most. They also lend themselves to black and white, so I've decided to show some of the shots today.
In this first one I couldn't help but look enviously and admire those wooden drawers on show and the pattern of the lights.
And the pattern of the stonework on both the balcony and the windows on this grand building.
And it's the combination of the sign, brickwork and drainpipe here
And the roof and windows of the large and dominating Church of Christ the King.
