  • Oriental poppies

  • Foxgloves

What to do in the garden this month

  • Put up summer hanging baskets and position containers for maximum enjoyment, but don’t forget to water them

  • Pinch out the sideshoots on your tomatoes

  • Harvest lettuce, radish and other salads

  • Plant out summer bedding

  • Cut your grass at least once a week, unless the weather is very dry

What to do in the garden this month

  • Watch out for late frosts and protect tender plants

  • Plant out summer bedding - a great reason to visit the garden centre!

  • Water early and late, and recycle water when possible

  • Open your greenhouse door and vents on warm days
