It’s been another warm one here, peaking yesterday with temperatures of 35 degrees, even as I write this post at almost 8:30pm it’s still 30 degrees, and it’s only forecast to drop to 19 degrees at four in the morning, before climbing again to just 30 degrees on Friday.

Like my plants, including the cosmos below which are bearing up, I’m really not built for these temperatures - though these days 20 degrees does feel kind of chilly, doesn’t it?

These sheep - not mine - are on the wrong side of side of the fence, which is also thankfully not mine. But it seems they fancied a wander around the village last Sunday afternoon so left their field, wandered up the lane to the main road and at some point encountered the farmer up the road from us who chivvied them out of harms way, and unintentionally into our neighbour’s garden. MOH & I were innocently sitting in the garden and unexpectedly asked, by the farmer, if we were good with sheep.

Intrigued, but no idea if we were qualified at all we set about helping him get the escapees onto the other side of this fence. They weren’t quite ready for their adventure to end so visited another two neighbour’s gardens before the four of us, we’d been joined by another neighbour, spoilt their fun by blocking their path as there was a real chance they’d go for another lap around the village if not.

With experience (now) I’m not sure I am good with sheep - they’re surprisingly fast and nimble when they want to be - let’s hope their exploits don’t reoccur anytime soon!

We’re back from a few days in Suffolk where we picked up this adorable ‘bikey’ robot, which MOH was really taken with and so it came home with us. ‘Bikey’ because the head is an old style bicycle light which was even more appropriate as MOH had taken part in the annual Dunwich Dynamo cycle ride from East London to Dunwich on the Suffolk coast.

It was the first time he’d done this since we moved here - and clearly this was more of a logistical nightmare than when we lived in South London, but it worked. It’s quite a way too - a bit more than a hundred miles and takes place overnight, so given his recent health scare it was another target (albeit a mostly bonkers one) for him in his recovery. He did it, enjoyed it and has already told me when next year’s date is, so safe to say he’s getting back to his previous health and fitness. Phew.
