This week I’m mostly feeling accomplished - not only are my bay trees (pictured - with raindrops obviously!) recovering better than I could have hoped for from their yellow-ness earlier in the summer, MOH has put some shelves up in the cupboard my craft room and I’ve unwittingly rearranged the whole room (more on that next week) discovering many things I’d forgotten I had in the process.

I haven’t done as much sewing as I would have liked to, but that’s on my list for next week as well as a visit to the Knit & Stitch Show in Harrogate with friends from my sewing group.

I’m sharing another photo from our recent trip away for this week’s post. This one was taken in the barn at Great Dixter where it was a joy to see so many seed heads drying. In fact the whole garden was fantastic, as was the house, but it was the garden that really shone for me. Maybe that was because it was always going to, or because it was the day after the rain and winds and nature was doing its best to put on a brave face, who knows. But the garden, for me, was magnificent because it wasn’t too manicured, and had more of a ‘lived in’ and 'used’ feel to it if you know what I mean.

We had a few days away last week with family but with Storm Benjamin also arriving some of our plans were slightly scuppered for the first day. It rained so much - just look at those puddles in my photo this week, they weren’t there when we arrived at the cottage. I was lucky though with this shot as the evening sun caught the leaves on the trees, just seconds later and it was gone - truly the magical hour.
