Hello there, and welcome back to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any blog post published in the last week, posts which are older will be removed from the linky. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love. If you were here last week it was great to have you along, if you’re new here this week we’re pleased you’ve joined us.

It’s been another lovely sunny week here, though the forecast storms didn’t hit us as bad as some other parts of the country, or even other parts of London. The weather really is quite strange at the moment isn’t it? It’s been great to mostly sit and watch our garden go through its rituals with plants coming and going, some earlier, some later than usual.

MOH is continuing to do the bulk of, well everything, and I’m so grateful to him for this - I know his patience has been tried on a couple of times (and not just by me), which as the most patient person I know, has been quite something. He’s taken the ‘supervision’ whether that be on emptying garden pots, or in the kitchen with incredibly good grace and hasn’t balked at anything whether that’s been as a chaperone, bag carrier, food cutter upper, dresser, or supplying me with even more cups of tea and cold drinks than normal. He really is a keeper.

MOH and I reflected in a mirror on one beautiful border, with biblical quotes hanging over the top corners of those black edged mirrors

I was so grateful to have a sling to wear at Gardeners’ World Live - keeping your arm elevated, especially when walking about, is much harder than you think it’d be. You can see in the picture though, that taking pictures still required two hands!

Over the past fortnight, I am gradually using my hand again more and more. I’m off to get the stitches out today, so hopefully I’ll be a little bit more back to normal shortly.

Thank you for all your well wishes ahead of my operation last Saturday. My surgeon deemed it all to have gone “like clockwork” and given that he said he does almost 300 of these a year, I’m happy to take his word for it! The bandage is big though, and I’ve spent most of the last week with it elevated. I’ve another week with this on, and then the stitches come out next Friday, so hopefully things will continue to go well and I’ll get slightly less frustrated with my left-handed abilities!

In fairness it hasn’t been quite as bad as I thought, though there are some things that I can do that I thought I might not be able to, and some things I can’t which I hadn’t even considered. We did manage to get to Birmingham and Gardeners’ World Live this week though, and it was great - I’ve so much to share, hand permitting!

This time of year is always busy with birthdays and celebrations. Yesterday MOH and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary, and despite agreeing ‘cards, but no presents’ he also popped out to pick up this gorgeous bouquet of flowers which he’d ordered from our local florist. He knows me well, and had asked the florist for something modern using yellow, orange and red/pink and then left them to it. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Orange gerberas, yellow dahlias and spray 'fillers' - part of the flowers that MOH bought for our wedding anniversary - he's a keeper!

Tomorrow I’m off to the hospital for my Carpal Tunnel Decompression operation. I’m looking forward to the end result of no longer having tingling fingers, but not so much the actual operation or the recovery. I’m very right-handed, and yes, it’s my right hand that is being operated on. I’ve two weeks in bandages - which in the pre-admission clinic they told me would be big - and I’m sure plenty more recuperation and recovery after that. We’ve a few things planned in the next two weeks, not least a trip to Birmingham (by train!) to Gardeners’ World Live which I’m hoping won’t be too disrupted. Fingers crossed (left ones only for me though!)
