Post Comment Love 3-5 December

Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love. If you were here last week it was great to have you along, if you’re new here this week we’re pleased you’re here.

It’s been a fairly mundane, run of the mill week here following the most recent Covid rule changes around masks. We haven’t stopped wearing masks in shops, and while they’re not something I ever thought would become so mainstream, they are hardly onerous to wear. I don’t understand the reasoning behind only part of the rule changes here - in shops and on public transport, but not in hospitality settings. Well, I do - but the logic doesn’t stack up for me, it smacks of the government playing games. Again.

But anyway, this week the photo I’ve shared is one from the gardens at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire which we had a good wander around after exploring the castle itself. I think the gardeners were, like many gardeners around the country, still catching up with the tasks after no doubt not being able to work in the gardens during lockdown. But even so, the shapes and patterns of the hedges were fantastic - and certainly eye catching.

It’s been chillier this week than it has been and our heating is finally on regularly. It’s late this year though with the milder autumn, so that’s something. As we’re both still mainly working at home, and brought up with the ‘put another jumper on’ approach it’s something for us to have the heating on during the day, but there’s only so many jumpers you can put on (and don’t worry we don’t have that many layers on!).

It was quite different last weekend though, and it was great to spend some time in the garden - even though that time was spent clearing leaves. We filled our leaf bins, and filled a whole wheelie bin and still there were more leaves left to collect, and more to fall. It’s not my most favourite job, but being able to ‘lawn mower them up’ is definitely the best move.

This week’s photo was one I snapped in Marlborough when we stopped for breakfast on our way to relatives in Devon. The crocheted post box topper no doubt raises many a smile from people who pass, and it was great to see.

Well the Bond film was long - probably not the best, but one glad I’ve seen and one that had me wiping a tear from my eye. The cinema was the best bit for me - small and mostly empty, but MOH was less impressed, he thought the sound wasn’t comparable to the larger screens. He’s probably true, but those are the ones that normally make me jump!

We had our booster jabs, but the organisation was, and being kind, chaotic. Nothing like the previous well organised operation for our first and second jabs. We went to our local hospital, and well if there’s more jabs, never again. We were in danger of running out of time on our 1 hour parking ticket, but the jab is done and the people administering it were great, it was just the organisation that made me despair.

But onto happier things, my photo is one from the Knitting & Stitching Show - such detail, such work and such talent. I’d happily have that on my wall.
