Post Comment Love 8-10 October

Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love. If you were here last week it was great to have you along, if you’re new here this week we’re pleased you’re here.

I’ve had a few days off this week which has been lovely, though as it turned out quite well timed. My dermatologist appointment from the GP’s referral back in August came through, and so on Saturday I headed up to our local hospital. Still with no petrol I decided to walk, and of course it rained. The original issue wasn’t much to worry about, though it was still cut out and sent for testing, but the dermatologist did spot a mole that concerned him more. As he said, my luck was in as the surgeon was also there on Saturday, so I left with (slightly) less body matter and a few stitches, and plenty of replacement dressings and strict instructions. That was the well timed bit as moving, and sitting down, was tricky - it’s easing, but still a bit bumpy around the stitches, but I’m sure it will heal. I just need to remember its tender, and preferably before I move or sit down with haste!

This week my photo’s taken from our back garden looking up at the gorgeous silhouettes on our neighbour’s rooftop balcony - isn’t it great?

Happy October!

But seriously, how has that happened? I feel like we’ve missed a month (at least) somewhere along the way. Though this past week has felt the most normal, in a pre-Covid sense, for a long time. Petrol aside. I don’t have any petrol, and even less patience to queue but I know I will most probably need to break soon. But I really don’t want to join the bibbing idiots queuing for the garage down the road (and I should add I’m sure none of you are bibbing idiots). The bibbing and the perpetual queue outside our house means the garage has petrol, the other night (or rather morning) it went on until at least 1.30am, which wasn’t great.

But back to autumn. Aren’t these ceramic pumpkins lovely? MOH was trying to work out their purpose, and couldn’t quite comprehend their ‘ornament’ status. They’re made by the very talented Lindy Garner of Lindy Garner Ceramics, and I know these won’t be my only purchase.

Last week you’ll remember that my photo was raindrops on the window, thankfully the weather here has been much improved. In my home office it’s been warm most days, MOH though is noticing the drop of temperature in his home office at the back of the house. I’m finding I’m still dressing for summer and feeling chillier in our main living areas, it’s all very confusing. Heading to campus and wearing proper office clothes - and worse, shoes - is equally as problematic, but I’ll cope - and it’s been nice to sit outside and eat our lunch some days.

So today, I’m sharing a sunnier photo and one from our trip to Scotney Castle back in July. Admittedly the greenhouse looks as if it needs a bit of work, but isn’t it characterful and beautiful nonetheless? It’s situated in the walled garden, and walled gardens are always a must visit for me.
