Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love.

It’s been another worrying week here, and one where MOH’s last day ‘in the home office’ is hurtling towards us. For him this week has been one for sorting out legalities and making arrangements to collect his belongings from his office which he last went to in person some 29 weeks ago. It’s amazing when you look at this in numbers - for over half the year we have now worked at home. Neither of us really did this before the pandemic. I’ll be continuing to work at home, he’ll be on gardening leave - and at a time when there’s very little to actually do in the garden.

Like many people we’ve at least one eye on what any new announcements may bring, and how that will impact us. We’ve a week away planned, and while we’re as confident as we can be that it will go ahead - we have a cottage booked - it’s the stuff around the edges which we’re less sure about. Visiting family at either end of our trip, eating out and going to the pub - everything that we used to consider normal - we’ll see how it goes, and all the time hoping for the best.

It’s been another quiet week here, for many reasons, and so I’m not linking a post again this week. But just sitting down to write this, and seeing how quickly the words are tumbling out makes me realise how much I miss my space here. It’s a good reminder that I need to try much harder - and hope that I’ve booked a cottage with wifi!

Ah, what a week for universities, across the country. It’s dominated my working week too. While there probably are some students not obeying the covid rules, in truth, I don’t think they’re the only ones or the only age group. And it’s clear, to me anyway, that everyone needs to pay attention and follow the rules, because really, there’s not much other choice is there?

My photo this week is one from our trip to Whitstable. And apart from the sun in my post, the only sun you’ll see this week. The flower is a beauty though, dancing coyly in the wind. It’s a good reminder of how much I enjoy these rust varieties.

Another week, and new rules from the government. And a new app, which we’ve already downloaded here, and which I hope will help in the fight against Covid. Though, if I’m honest I think we’ve some way to go yet, though I’m hoping we’ll start to see changes from these latest changes soon, and before other more tighter rules are needed.

Earlier in the year I booked some leave, random blocks of days, and so this week I’ve had three much needed days off. The first very much a home day, catching up on all sorts of things and yesterday we headed down to Whitstable for a change of scene. And much needed. We haven’t been to Whitstable for a while, and it’s such a pretty town, it was good to visit again.

We were lucky with the weather too, for most of the day. The sun had warmth, even though there were clouds in the sky, some of them much darker than we’d have liked. But we were able to have some al-fresco fish and chips on the edge of the beach, so a lot of typical English seaside town behaviour. We spotted beach huts, browsed shops, bought local goods and then got soaked after a sudden downpour which caught us out.

But even so, a really good day out, and one that (face coverings apart) felt the most ‘normal’ for a while.
