It’s been our toughest week of lockdown so far here, and I’m so glad it’s Friday. We noticed the fridge-freezer defrosting mid morning on Wednesday, thankfully just a door not closed properly rather than anything mechanical. And thankfully most things were salvage-able, and didn’t need immediate eating. Then yesterday our internet was down for most of the working day, which made for a frustrating day. Many of my colleagues were also affected, but luckily not everyone was so they were able to cover our town hall meeting with the Chief Exec.

But just as stress levels were rising - mainly from not being able to do anything - and this postcard from someone I’ve never met or spoken too before arrived, and all was good again. My to do list didn’t go down, but this postcard swap couldn’t have arrived at a better time.

I’m still in that lockdown phase where everything is merging into one. I have no real idea what day it is, and this week, more than most I’ve spent in online meetings. It’s no fun for MOH when I’m in online meetings six hours a day, which it has been for the past few days. It’s no fun for me either trying to get my actual work done. He is good at making me tea, and lunch, and prising me away from the kitchen table office.

A walk up and down the garden - when it’s not torrential rain - helps no end. As does the knowledge that this intense period can’t go on for ever. Though I’m pretty certain it will be followed by the next intense period. Seriously though there will be downtime, and I know I’m fortunate to be working, and to be able to make a difference to where I work, which in turn makes a difference to other people.

I am looking forward to getting my crochet on though, and spending some decent pottering time in the greenhouse.

This week it’s been back to work at the dining room table and catching up is always a challenge isn’t it? I’m past counting the number of emails to reply, act on or delete, so don’t ask me. With two days of virtual away days, I’m quite quickly back to square eyes again.

My photo this week (which as I’m writing this post is playing up, so I hope it decides to show itself) is from our visit to RHS Hyde Hall last Friday. It was good to get out, though our journey over to Essex was through torrential rain. When we arrived we learnt that we’d beaten the rain there, but not for long! With buildings and shelters closed, we headed towards the woodland area and sheltered under trees. We weren’t the only ones with that idea, but somehow everyone managed to more than social distance.
