Welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - a friendly linky which I co-host with Suzanne, where you can link any post published in the last week. We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love.

Well, what is there to say? We’re still in lockdown but now we need to stay alert. Working in comms, this week I’ve been shaking my head a lot at the inconsistencies of our new guidance. In fact, I don’t think you need to work in comms to shake your head at this, but and I have to laugh, I just found myself shaking my head while typing this!

We haven’t been out, that’s getting boring to report now too isn’t it? I haven’t been out since the guidance was restricted, I still want to make some masks, and have got as far as cutting some out and I hope to make progress this weekend. I also need to work out how to have better boundaries about stopping work, as work is still busy and growing, so it’s easy for this to sneak into evenings when I would usually blog. I need to find a way so that I can read and catch up on the posts you’ve linked up, and generally catch up with myself.

Before that though let me tell you about this week’s photo. It’s of some of the most gorgeous orchids in the glasshouse at RHS Wisley. It was only January that we visited, but now that seems a lifetime ago. My own orchids at home have finally given up and the leaves have all fallen off, it turns out orchids aren’t my houseplant!

This could potentially be a first, with #PoCoLo running on a Bank Holiday Friday. It’s definitely a first for a Bank Holiday Friday in May, that’s for sure. And it feels kind of odd too, and not just because we’re still in lockdown, with no clear path on how we’ll move out of it. It seems a lot will hang on Sunday’s announcement, though anyone who thinks life will return to normal in the near future is likely to be very disappointed.

It is a shame that the celebrations for VE Day have needed to be cancelled, but it’s obvious why they were. There is a fantastic looking Virtual VE Day Festival taking place online organised jointly by the museums of the Royal Air Force, Army and Navy. Let’s hope that by VJ Day, on 15 August, life might be less locked down and some of the celebrations could take place then.

The weather also seems caught out by the change to the Bank Holiday, as the forecast for at least a couple of days is good, so I’m hoping our barbecue will be out - as well as the bottle of Rose that’s in the fridge in preparation.

It’s been another quiet and work filled week here, the highlight I think has been making chocolate banana muffins, which are clearly not photographed below. I’ll tell you more about this week’s photo shortly.

Oh and a cheese delivery - our first from Neal’s Yard, and I suspect not our last, though not for a couple of weeks. We did enjoy some time in the garden last weekend. We got some gardening done, filled our green bin and then also found some time to enjoy the sun, and give the barbecue another outing, which when you remember it was still April is pretty amazing.

Though the last few days have been rather different weather-wise. It’s been chilly, wet and generally just a bit miserable. Even MOH hasn’t ventured out much this week. As always any kind of cake is welcomed here, and the coffee and cake in the photo below were probably the reason we almost missed our flight back from Lyon in February. That’s quite a call, but then again I was smitten with the plates.
