We know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love.

I hope you are keeping well, and well, quite frankly, I hope you’re staying indoors too. It’s been a peculiar week here for MOH and I as we’ve started a new facet to our relationship as co-workers. The dining room table has been commandeered as ‘Mission Control’ and generally it’s going well.

working from home day 1

So far we’ve been lucky that none of our meetings have overlapped, he’s been bemused by my directorate’s ‘coffee meeting’ Monday morning which turned into a bit of a pet-show-and-tell. I’ve learnt he’s good at making drinks and lunch and is much more disciplined than me about taking breaks. The danger, and one that we both fell into on Monday, was that our working day is much, much longer.

For me, that’s not helped by the amount of work that’s still around, and which is now joined by the usual demands as people go back to their day jobs. The thing is though, I’m proud that people are functioning well and doing their day jobs, it means my work has helped prepare them well, but I’ve a feeling we’ve quite a long way to go in this yet.

Though I fear a bigger adjustment will be required by the time we all head back to our offices…

I hope you’re all keeping well, especially during this quite peculiar time. I have a stuffy nose, which thankfully isn’t one of the symptoms of Coronavirus but is something that I feel I need to explain. Even on here it seems.

I’ve had what I’m calling the busiest week ever, but at the same time hoping that it doesn’t step up a gear next week with any further announcements from the government. Working in comms, Internal Comms, to be precise has been both challenging and rewarding this week. Though whoever thought that a 5:15pm Press conference each day was a good idea, hasn’t been the most popular person this week.

So it seems fitting that the photo I’m sharing this week is one of my desk - yes it’s messy, but I can’t even start to tell you what my days have looked like. It also represents the challenge I’ve set myself to find the right cables and adapters to connect a monitor to my laptop, as from Monday I’ll be working from home until further notice.

A messy desk a sign of a busy person

In Monday’s post I was optimistically hoping for a less frenetic week. Well, so far that’s not happened, as like many people, our Coronavirus planning and actions have stepped up a gear, and I suspect there’s a little way to go yet.

Today though, I’ll be enjoying a day off and I’m very much looking forward to fish and chips. Somehow, fish and chips from a seaside town tastes so much better, doesn’t it?

Rhododendrons at Wisley

My photo this week is from our visit to RHS Wisley back in January. Back when we were still on track for visiting a garden every weekend, which quickly fell by the wayside. I was surprised to see the flowers out so early, and it looks as if the changeable weather might have got to them too.
