Post Comment Love and Blogger Showcase: 12-14 October

Hello there and welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - if you were here last week, thank you - it was great to see you, and if you’re new here this week then hello, you’re very welcome. Both Morgan and I are confident you’re going to find some great posts to read.

It’s just a short intro from me this week as I’m not sure how much internet I have so this is, I hope, a predictive taste of something good.

Blogger Showcase: Marina Rosie from Marina Writes Life

1. Who are you?

Hi, I'm Marina Rosie and I'm a 16 year old British girl living in Western France, blogging about beauty, lifestyle and my other passions on my blog, Marina Writes Life.

2. How did you discover blogs/blogging?

I discovered blogging through my sister who began before me. I used to see how happy she was with the content she churned out and want that feeling of satisfaction for myself.

3. Why did you start blogging?

I began my blog during a time in which I felt alone - I'd only just moved to France and, at that point, didn't speak a word of French and had no real life friends to talk to and converse with. So, I thought I'd make some virtual ones! I've also always had a real passion for writing and beauty, so mixing those two together was my idea of a perfect pastime.

4. What do you find most challenging?

For me, the most challenging thing about blogging is finding the time to write the content, create the flatlays and imagery etc, as I'm, obviously, at a stage of my education that requires me to focus a lot of attention on exams and schoolwork and that's got to be the priority.

5. What is your favourite topic to write about?

My favourite topic is always beauty, particularly makeup over skincare - I've got draws and draws of palettes and lipsticks! I can't get enough!

6. Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

I am, at the moment, just blogging for fun but, if in the future, when I come to choose a career, I'm still just as devoted and passionate as I am now, it could definitely become more than that.

7. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is definitely the wonderful comments I receive in the bottom section of each post - I love interacting with the people that have given up time out of their days to read my content. It makes me feel amazing. Of course, I have had some negative comments in the past but, in my case, the good definitely outweighs the bad!

8. Have you ever attended a blogging conference and if so, what did you think?

No, I haven't but I'd love to in the future to learn a bit more about how I should be going about things to continue to grow my platforms and social media influence!

9. What are your 3 best posts?

My 3 best posts... I've got to go with my most recent one "Channeling My Inner Unicorny Mermaid" (I tried some WACKY products within that post), my "Love Lola Makeup - July 2017" post because I'm still confused as to how I managed to take such a beautiful cover photo with not a creative bone in my body and, finally, my "May Beauty Favourites" post - surprisingly, something so simple became my most viewed post of all time and I loved making it.

10. Describe yourself in three words!

If I were to describe myself in three words, I would go with makeup loving maniac because, well, I'm obsessed with collecting and reviewing cosmetics and can be a little loopy sometimes!

11. Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

I'm going to have to say tea and biscuits as I'm not a coffee drinker but I'd love to be able to mix the two and say tea and cake because I do LOVE a bit of cake!

12. What's your idea of a perfect night out?

My perfect night out would consist of a roller disco (I love roller skating, especially to music and with good company) followed by a delicious KFC to put back on all of the weight we lost from the skating - marvellous!

13. What's your idea of a perfect night in?

My perfect night in definitely has to be a late night takeaway and some reality TV (guilty pleasure) with my grandma, Maeve - we have such a laugh when Come Dine With Me is on!

14. What would your best friend/OH/mum say is your best quality?

Most people would say that my best quality is my humour - I'm a very silly person with not only a visual but also a sarcastic sense of humour which means I can make everybody laugh and lighten the mood in a heavy situation.

Post Comment Love 5-7 October

Hello there and welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - if you were here last week, it was great to see you. If you’re new here this week then you’re very welcome. Both Morgan and I are pleased you’ve joined us and we’re sure you’re going to find some great posts to read again this week.

This week I think I’ve survived on tea, and actually I’m fine with that. It really does cover all occasions doesn’t it. Thirsty, drink tea. Need to ponder, drink tea. Not sure what to do next, drink tea. Catch up with friends, drink tea (and then drink something stronger, obviously). Chill out, drink tea. Recover, drink tea.

It’s a good reminder to pack some in our suitcase. And yes, I will. We’re going self-catering, and while I’m happy to buy most things when we arrive, perhaps not tea. We didn’t take tea to Yorkshire, but since we’ve been back we’ve only bought the Yorkshire sort. That’s probably one of our most unusual holiday legacies though.

And so with all this talk of tea, it’s only fitting that my picture is of tea too. And my tea-tiere (like a cafetiere, but for tea, and yes that might not be a real word!)

And sorry, if all this talk of tea has made you thirsty. I’ll have one too when you put the kettle on!

Blogger Showcase: Emma from Bee Money Savvy

Morgan is hosting Emma’s full set of answers this week, so do pop over there and find out more about this week’s Blogger Showcase. But before you go, let me tell you a snippet about Emma, who is, I think, the first to specify which type of tea - green, for what you’ll know is my favourite questions.

And one more, as Emma says she wouldn’t be a great money blogger if she didn’t have some kind of money-driven goal, and no prizes for guessing her favourite topic to blog about. But that’s it for me, take a look and find out more, and if you get a chance connect with Emma on her social channels: Facebook - Twitter - Instagram - Pinterest.

If you’d like to be featured in a future Blogger Showcase, then please answer the questions and get in touch with Morgan or I and we can agree a date.

Post Comment Love and Blogger Showcase 28-30 September

Hello there and welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo - if you were here last week, it was great to see you. If you’re new here you’re very welcome, and I’m sure that all of us will be linking up some great posts. Please do take some time to stop by some of the other posts that are linked, as you never know what you might discover there - you’ll know as well as Morgan and I that linkys work best when everyone shares the love where they can.

Hasn’t it been lovely to see the sun again?

Although the temperature is lower it’s nice to feel the sun on your back. We’ve toyed with putting the heating on for the mornings, and have put another thin quilt on the bed. MOH is campaigning for the duvet back, but I’m sure we can last out a bit longer. Have you had your heating on yet?

My photo this week is from July and my visit to Hyde Hall in Essex. How the sunlight dances across the colourful coleus, seems to sum up this week for me. Colourful, bright and glimpses of sun, and that’s never a bad thing.

Sunlight on the coleus at Hyde Hall

I’ve an eye on the temperatures over in Italy to give me a clue of what to pack in the chance that this time I might not over pack and take things just in case. I’m sure it’s something I grapple with each time we go away, and always think it’s possible.

Blogger Showcase: Huda from BeauLife

1. Who are you?

Hey! I am Huda and I blog over at Beau Life.  I am a beauty and lifestyle blogger and I also offer some amazing blogging tips over on my blog. I am from Pakistan but currently residing in UAE. I recently completed my bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management.

2. How did you discover blogs/blogging?

I actually discovered blogging through YouTube. I had always been passionate about makeup and would spend hours on YouTube watching beauty videos. One of the beauty gurus I used to watch also ran a blog and that gave me an idea. Since I did not have the confidence nor the setup needed to do YouTube, I could simply share my passion for makeup with people through my blog.

3. Why did you start blogging?

I guess I have already answered this question. I have loved makeup since I was a little girl. Watching these talented ladies share their passion through YouTube and blogging inspired me to do the same and here I am.

4. What do you find most challenging?

For me, the most challenging is part is staying motivated even when I feel like my hard work and passion is not getting valued. I would love to get more opportunities through blogging but blogging requires a lot of patience and not all of us can become successful overnight.

5. What is your favourite topic to write about?

Honestly, I love writing about anything beauty/lifestyle/blogging tips related which is why I cover all these topics on my blog. It is hard to choose one but I would say that the posts I create on blogging tips seem to do the best in terms of views.

6. Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

Oh, I definitely have some big goals. I am always trying to better my content, grow my audience, increase my blog traffic and learn something new about blogging. For example, I am currently trying to learn about Pinterest and how I can use it to get traffic to my blog. I am very passionate about blogging and definitely aspire to make blogging a part-time if not a full-time job.

7. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

My favourite thing is definitely being able to share- whether that be sharing makeup tips or sharing my life, I just love being able to connect with like minded people and I love having a little space of mine where I can come and just be creative.

8. Have you ever attended a blogging conference?

No, I have not but I would love to.

9. What are your 3 best posts?

That is a hard one but if I had to choose, it would be these:

  1. Why is anxiety more common now?

  2. The truth about blogging...

  3. How to stop comparing yourself to others

10. Describe yourself in 3 words

Sensitive, hardworking, passionate.

11. Are you a tea & biscuits person or coffee & cake person?

Can I be a tea and cake person? I can not drink coffee become it makes me jittery, but I do love tea and I definitely prefer cake over biscuits.

12. What is your idea of a perfect night out?

Getting ready (the getting ready part is always my fave part of going out) and going for an outdoor dinner near the beach.
