Post Comment Love and Blogger Showcase 21-23 April 2017

Hello and welcome to another Friday and another #PoCoLo - if you were here last week, thank you and if you're new here welcome. Both Morgan and I hope you find plenty of good reads in our friendly Post Comment Love community.

It's been a funny week hasn't it, I think short weeks always are. We had a good, but chilly Easter, and the weather has been tricking me this week since we've been home too. Tuesday morning it looked nice out and so I left home without a cardy, I almost came home again to find one but decided against it and later wished I hadn't. Although the skies were blue, so was the temperature.

It has warmed up a little as the week's gone on, but generally let's just say it's been brrrrrr! The wind has been showing its hand in other ways too, just look at the blossom on my walking commute.  There's much more on the ground now, although I kind of like the idea of pink flower beds, don't you?

Blogger Showcase: Pam from Pam's Bake and Baby blog

1. Who are you?

My name's Pam and I'm a 32 year old mum of two - Fraser 3yrs and Hannah 1yr. I'm wife to a mountain biker-surveyor-whisky-drinker, Ross. We've been together 15 years, married for eight and I've worked in the rail industry for over 10 years.

2. How did you discover blogs/blogging?

I have been reading baking blogs for about 5 years since I really got into cake making. It opened up a whole new world for me, moving onto parenting and lifestyle blogs as well.

3. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging - at Pam's Bake and Baby - because friends badgered me to. Since having kids I have been posting funny anecdotes and pictures on Facebook and everybody told me I should be blogging. Having taken fiction writing courses and writing only fiction since I was younger I wasn't sure how I would get on, but I'm really enjoying it.

4. What do you find most challenging?

Writing content I think will engage people. Sometimes I try too hard to write what I think others will want rather than what I enjoy.

5. What is your favourite topic to write about?

Definitely mishaps with the kids. I love the humour and the camaraderie from fellow mums.

6. Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

I've only been blogging for 5 months so at the moment it's just for fun but I'm keen to see what I can do with it.

7. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

It has to be the feedback and support from other mums, bakers and bloggers.

8. Have you ever attended a blogging conference?

I haven't yet attended any conferences.

9. What are your 3 best posts?

My 3 best posts are

  1. Harder, Better, Stronger, Faster

  2. Things I've learnt today

  3. Bakes and Blushes

10. Describe yourself in three words...

I'm a continually harassed individual that sets herself constant goals and puts herself under more pressure than she needs to. I work full-time, shift work in the rail industry and juggle this with a husband who works away a lot, two kids and a growing list of cake making requests.

...Oops!

11. Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Tea and biscuits all the way. Have been known to finish a whole pack of chocolate hobnobs and hide the wrapper like a guilty child!

12. What's your idea of a perfect night out?

That would be a very luxurious meal with good wine, then cocktails, followed by a night in a hotel so I didnt have to get up with the kids.

13. Your perfect night in?

A takeaway slob night with a good box set and no housework!

14. What would your best friend/OH/mum or kids say is your best quality?

My mum would say I work too hard and don't take enough time for myself. My husband would hopefully say I'm a fun person to be around and make our home a place he can't wait to come back to.

Post Comment Love 14-16 April 2017

Hello there and welcome to another Friday and another #PoCoLo - if you were here last week, thanks for linking up with us, we loved reading your posts. If you're linking for the first time this week, then welcome, I expect you'll find some cracking posts linked up, but don't just take my word for it.

Wasn't the weather great at the weekend? And so different during the week! Despite the change in temperature I've still been braving the walk to work without a coat, I find them cumbersome, so as soon as I can ditch my coat I'm a happy girl. I'm prepared to brave the colder mornings so I don't have to carry a coat home each evening, my plan is only scuppered when it's cold in the evening too. But that's a good reason to walk more quickly!

Greenwich Park is still as beautiful and the pink blossom still in full swing. One of the trees in the flower garden has been gaining lots of attention from Asian visitors who are queuing to have their photo taken underneath it. Deciding to (almost) get in on the act, one evening i stood under another of the trees, and that's the photo I'm sharing this week. I've had some fun editing what was a dark photo, but I think I'm allowed some photographic licence at times.

Hello and welcome to another Friday and another PoCoLo. If you were here last week, thank you it was great to see you, if you're new here this week, welcome, I hope you'll find us a happy and friendly bunch. I'm pretty certain you'll find a wide range of posts to read, and Morgan and I are looking forward to see what you'll link up this week.

This week has been mixed for me, we finally got over to the allotment for the first time this year (yes, I know, I'm hanging our collective heads in shame) and it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. We've also got the gardening bug back, which is just as well as we've a lot to do. I had a hospital appointment for my overactive thyroid and have been discharged, which is good news, because if I'm honest the appointments weren't massively helpful. I'd been allocated a consultant at Kings which is a bit of a faff to get too, and it certainly was this week as the zip in my trousers jammed on the day of my hospital appointment.

Of course I discovered just as I was about to head into back to back meetings and then head straight off to the hospital. Cue some emergency shopping, thankfully that was successful and I made the hospital appointment with seven minutes to spare, and was so glad they didn't want to take my blood pressure this time!

And then there's been the weather, hasn't it been great?  And some lovely weather to come if we believe the forecast, we're already planning a barbecue, so I hope they're right. This week's photo is from Greenwich Park and suddenly it's been all about the blossom, so here's some blossom.

Blogger Showcase: Jessica from Enjoy the Adventure

1. Who are you

I am Jess a travel blogger - at Enjoy the Adventure - and mental health support worker. When I’m not working I love exploring new places, going out for meals, afternoon tea and watching movies.

I first discovered blogs as a teenager whilst I was looking for makeup and skincare reviews. I loved the fact it was normal people trying out products I could easily get.

3. Why did you start blogging?

I decided to start after backpacking around Europe. I was in areas such as Slovenia and Bosnia and wanted to find out more information about how to travel around the countries and the best places to visit. I couldn’t find all the information I wanted so decided to create my own blog. Describing what transport to get and how much things cost so people know this information before visiting somewhere.

4. What do you find most challenging?

HTML I still have no idea how to do certain things. There’s also a lot of work that goes into growing a following on social media and to get a decent amount of pages views.

5. What is your favourite topic to write about?

Anything related to travel, whether it’s going on a trip abroad or a staycation.

6. Are you blogging for fun or do you have goals?

Initially I started blogging for fun, but now I have a few goals. These would be going on Press trips or events and meeting other bloggers.

I love the blogging community and receiving lovely messages on my blog! I also love having the opportunity to work with companies.

11. Are you a tea and biscuits or coffee and cake person?

Definitely tea and biscuits, I love a good cuppa tea.

12. What’s your idea of a perfect night out?

A perfect night out would be with the girls going for dinner and a few cocktails, then seeing a live band.

13. Your perfect night in?

A movie, takeaway and a face mask.
