Post Comment Love & Newbie Showcase 22-24 January

Welcome to this week's #PoCoLo, it was great to have you link up last week. If you're new here then remember you can link up any post from the last week that needs a bit more love. The #PoCoLo community is renowned as a friendly one, so you can be sure the post you're proud of will be given the love it deserves. Morgan and I are pleased to have you here.

Last weekend I did get to see some of the installations at Lumiere London, despite the crowds and I've shared that as my post this week. Today I have a day off from work and am having a much needed haircut - oh the glamour, hey?  I won some theatre tickets in a competition and we're hoping that we'll be sitting in the theatre later this evening.

This week I'm hosting the Newbie showcase here, so let's get on...

Newbie Showcase: Poppy from A Sunny Island

ASunnyIslandBlog.jpg

Hi everyone, really nice to be here! I’m Poppy (stationery obsessive, nap fan, fringe needs trimming), and I’ve been writing over at A Sunny Island for the last year and a half or so. Just writing that feels mad because it still feels very new and like I’m figuring out what I want to write about.

I made a big life change nearly three years ago when I moved from London to the Isle of Wight to have our son Arlo (banana fan, alphabet singer, friend to elephants), and I started A Sunny Island to document the things we got up to here by the sea. What started of as a mixture of posts about adventures in parenting and lots of cute baby pics has evolved over time to cover more interiors posts too, as we have made changes to our little home along the way.

Here’s some of my favourite posts from the last little while:

Thanks for reading - and thanks so much Vic and to Stephanie and Morgan for having me here - I’ve loved reading and discovering new blogs through #PoCoLo over the last year.

Post Comment Love 15-17 January 2016

Welcome to this week's #PoCoLo, Morgan and I want to thank those of you who linked up last week and made our first week hosting so pleasurable, and we're grateful for the love you showed us over on Twitter. This week we're hoping you've come back this week and brought your friends!

This week I've been looking forward to the weekend. In my mind I'm planning a trip into town to see what Lumiere London has to offer followed by a nice glass of red (or two) and dinner out somewhere. Preferably somewhere without a 45 minute wait for a table - what it is with these "no-book" restaurants?!  Let's see how that works out...

Newbie Showcase: Emily from Lost in Lyon

Emily who blogs at Lost in Lyon shares more about herself, why she blogs and the kind of things she likes to write over on Morgan's blog, so pop over there to find out more.

Emily loves to write and has a long list of potential topics in her head about the facets of French life that frustrate or amuse her and says who needs a stress ball when they can make other people laugh about their mishaps via their blog?

Thanks Emily. I love to visit France but sometimes even though it's not far in miles, it feels a world apart.

Post Comment Love & Newbie Showcase 8-10 January 2016

Welcome to this week's PoCoLo, the first in its new home, or one of its new homes! Today Morgan and I are excited to be co-hosting for the first time and like you, we are so grateful to Vicky for all she's done in the name of Post Comment Love.

It's still the same PoCoLo

But now it has two homes, and two new co-hosts. Each week you'll be able to link up from either of our sites and between us, Morgan and I will comment on the posts you link. The "rules" haven't changed either; your post needs to have been written in the last week and we'd still like you to comment on at least two other links, help us share the #PoCoLo word on Twitter and include the badge on your post.

We are also continuing to host the Newbie Showcase and will alternate this between us,  you'll find the first of them below.  Please do pop over each week and say hello to our newbie, we can all remember being a new blogger. If you'd like to feature in the Newbie Showcase, please get in touch - our list currently runs until May 2016.

But before we get onto the Newbie Showcase, thank you for stopping by today I'm hoping that together we can continue making PoCoLo the great linky it is.

Newbie Showcase: Nikki from Someplace Strange

Hello everyone!  Pleased to meet you all.  I’m Nikki Wood, aka Mrs Tubbs or Mrs T.  I’m married to Rev Tubbs, a Baptist Minister.  We have a 12 year old daughter who is in her first year of secondary school.  I work full time as a researcher at a financial institution in the City of London.  We live somewhere on the ThamesLink line.

My blog, Someplace Strange, includes posts about my family, food, politics, fashion, beauty, books, music, religion, life, the universe and everything.  Whatever takes my fancy!

When we started the journey that turned Mr T into Rev T, my late friend KenW sent me this message:

“Doesn't that [being a minister’s wife] entail you going 'round to ill parishioners and spoon-feeding them nourishing soups? Mentoring the Infants' Bible Class? Ditto Church Mothers?  Also, how are your potluck organizing skills? You ought to brush up on your vestry and altar decorating knowledge, as no doubt you'll be asked to head those committees. If I were you, I'd start drinking heavily now”.

I decided to start blogging instead.  All drinking heavily gets you is a hangover!  I started off on LJ, gave up and then picked up again on Blogger a few years later.  After a short break when my mum had her final illness, I’ve been blogging ever since.

There isn’t a grand plan for Someplace Strange.  Maybe write, share, hope people enjoy and make friends and learn new things.  It seems to be going well so far.  The blogging community has been really welcoming and I’ve met some great people.  Thank you.

It’s hard to choose the posts I’m most proud of as I’m proud of all of them.  You have to believe in what you’re about to press publish on. They’re all my favourites! Instead, here are a few that give you a flavour of what Someplace Strange is about:

Lastly, I’d like to thank Victoria, Morgan and Stephanie for having me.  #PoCoLo was the first Linky I ever joined.  Victoria was one of (the?) first person to comment on my blog. I’m looking forward to being part of the next instalment and I wish the new hosts all the best.
