Stained glass and plenty of colour

As well as the colour there’s plenty of green, and texture and height. A pristine path runs through the centre of this garden which was one from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2018, and as you can see in the Pavillion.

There’s plenty of flowers too, but what I like about this garden - apart from the colour - is how the green provides a backdrop for all the colour, which complements the stained glass window. The window itself, for me I see a landscape, the sea and the sky, but maybe you see something different?

It also shows how height makes a garden work, whether that’s through mixing the plants, or adding sculpture. Though the obelisk above looks like it could really do some damage.

In some ways the photo above is what I dislike about gardens, it’s all a bit matchy- matchy. For me, the colour in gardens need to be a bit clash-y, I think they work better - what do you think?

Post Comment Love 6-8 December

Hello there and welcome to this week’s #PoCoLo a friendly linky where you can link any post published in the last week. Both Suzanne and I know you’ll find some great posts to read, and maybe some new-to-you blogs too, so do pop over and visit some of the posts linked and share some of that love.

I thought I was doing well blog-wise this week, catching up on some blog reading and sharing posts. I’ve still some more to do, but then I realised I hadn’t shared (or even created) the code for the linky - sorry Suzanne, and it turns out up until yesterday I’d only written one post.

I also had no idea of what photo I would use this week, but then had a lucky discovery. On the way to work on Wednesday as I walked through Greenwich Park at one point I turned to enjoy the sun and captured a series of photos I thought might turn out quite well. And they have. As I said quite a result.

Reflecting on my week #107

don't eat yellow snow

It’s only Monday, but last week already seems a long time ago!

Christmas seems to have hit, but not in the usual way. It’s true there’s been shopping, we’ve started to eat mince pies (and more), we’ve received our first Christmas cards, and presents have been wrapped, and unwrapped.

We headed into town Tuesday evening under the excuse of Christmas shopping, but really it was our chance to get some Fortnum & Mason mince pies - our Christmas weakness. Or one of them.

We also left with a ceramic pot of “Welsh Rarebit” which in the end came down to the pot and the colour. Did we want red writing or blue writing? Blue, it seems.

And then we went out to dinner. Never one to pass by a Polpo if they’ve a space, we tried the one in Maiden Lane. It is as good as the others, and definitely worth trying. So are the negronis.

Wednesday and Thursday were work nights out. Not quite the debauched nights you’d imagine, especially as one was in the Painted Hall, but both provided a good opportunity to chill a bit after a busy few days.

Friday, MOH was out socialising in the City with former colleagues. I spent the day interviewing. Neither of us knew of the events taking place on London Bridge and far too close to where MOH was until mid-afternoon. Thankfully he and his group were safely ensconced in a pub unaware.

Then we really did Christmas at the weekend. A full on Christmas with family, presents, a tin of Quality Street, turkey and all the trimmings, far too many desserts, plenty of laughs and quite a lot of Baileys too.

But very few photos. For me that’s the sign of complete down time. It was chilly when we got back on Sunday night though - we’re not used to London being colder than Norfolk! My hat and gloves were called for this morning, though it’s not been cold enough for me to wear an actual, proper coat - I’m still wearing my large blanket wrap. The people I work with think I’m slightly mad too…
