Exciting news here this week! Finally we've reached the top of the allotment list - I've lost count of the number of years we've been on the list, but it's been a while. Last week we visited the site and were able to choose from two plots which had become available; the first had been used last year but was now covered in weeds and was on the edge of the site. The other hadn't been used at all last year and was slap bang in the middle of the site, with its own crab apple tree.
Decisions, decisions.
In the end we opted for the second plot, and while it'll be more work we think it's the best of the two longer-term. The lady that showed us round agreed with our decision and urged us to call the council then and there, so we did. I've still to pick up the key but the paperwork is done, and it's all very exciting... in a hard work kind of way.

PLOT 26: IN DESPERATE NEED OF SOME TLC
As well as the crab apple tree and besides the junk and compost heaps in the picture, it also has some rhubarb and strawberries, some poppies and some gone-to-seed parsnips, the remnants of some raspberry canes, a couple of flowering bushes and not so good, some bindweed. It also looks like there's been some foxes in one of the pallet compost bins too, so hopefully if they're still about they'll move on gracefully once we start clearing the place up.
